Bio
I consider myself an intuitive and experimental, abstract mixed-media painter. I create art that is primarily inspired by nature, landscape and emotion. I am especially influenced through actual experiences, movement, and imagination of thought and spirit.
My artistic intent is to visually communicate my personal impressions and memory for the viewer primarily with paint and all types of materials including collage. I take a process oriented approach; developing layers of message, texture, shape and color to actualize an original and unique image. I want to create something compelling to provoke pause, and conjure emotions of curiosity and wonder for my viewers.
Throughout my life, I have immersed myself in the creative process of art in many forms: architecture, photography, drawing, ceramics & painting. My formal education includes a Bachelors of Fine Arts, and a Masters of Art & Architecture from the University of New Mexico. My deliberate development as an abstract painter has been cultivated by fellow artists, exceptional teachers and independent study over the years. The making of art provides me with creative challenge and joy as well as a sense of personal fulfillment.
